Aurora Glazed Rooms is the conservatory brand name of Lee & Micklethwait Ltd. Lee Micklethwait is a business that can trace its heritage in timber and glass building back to the early 1900’s.
Micklethwait Brothers were established joiners in York at the turn of the 20th Century. John Leslie Micklethwait was of a more independent mind, preferring to go his own way. He proudly established himself in business initially in Toft Green York, then The Stonebow York and in 1969 at The Old Station Naburn, when he bought the disused platform and buildings of the abandoned station – the home of our business today.
“We don’t build rubbish” Mr. Micklethwait would proudly announce and that was virtually all the marketing needed as the business grew through recommendation and referral.
This motto is still the founding principle of the business today. Our products certainly aren’t rubbish, more importantly we aim to match the quality of our product with a personal and efficient service. As this is an area often overlooked in our industry.
At Aurora we genuinely do employ craftsmen, combining traditional hand crafted techniques with the best modern technology. Designing with durable premium timbers that have a 50 year anti-rot guarantee and enhanced glazing specifications to reduce heat loss in winter and prevents overheating in the summer months, our glazed rooms are specifically designed to enhance your property.
